Regional Setting & Special Features

East China Township is located in Michigan's southeastern lower peninsula in the extreme eastern portion of St. Clair County.

Two major resources exist within the Township; the St. Clair and Belle Rivers. These rivers are some of the most well defined physical features of the Township. The St. Clair River is a major commercial shipping channel which runs between Lake Huron and Lake St. Clair. Thus, communities fronting on the St. Clair River have access to all of the ports along the great lakes. Aside from its use for private recreation, the river, as a transportation resource, also provides the Township with a major generator of industrial activity. The Belle River is a tributary of the St. Clair River that weaves through the Township.
