The Red Brick Schoolhouse Commission is offering use of said schoolhouse by
students and teachers - Grades 3rd, 4th and 5th - and requests that you respect the 
historical value of the premises during your visit. Many hours of volunteer labor and 
much money has been spent in restoring and maintaining this schoolhouse. Please be 
sure that you and your students assume the responsibility that the school and its 
contents not be damaged.

YOUR CONFIRMATION FORM MUST BE COMPLETED AND RETURNED TO THE EAST CHINA
TOWNSHIP OFFICE TWO (2) WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR USE OF THE SCHOOLHOUSE.

1. The curriculum is geared to the 1860 era and McGuffy readers as well as spellers, 
penmanship manuals, slates and pencils will be provided to help you in teaching.

2. Smocks for the girls and vests for the boys will be provided and an appropriate 
costume for the teacher is desirable.

3. A representative will be there to greet you and will remain in the building during 
the school hours.

4. A maximum of thirty (30) students can be accommodated. There is a cost of Two 
Dollars ($2.00) per student which is to be paid upon arrival. Checks are to be made 
payable to: East China Township.

5. When reservations are made at the East China Township Office, 5111 River Road, 
for use of the building, an informational packet will be provided for your use as well 
as an evaluation sheet. Please complete the evaluation sheet leave it at the school at 
close of the day. Please make reservations two weeks prior to desired date for use.

6. Use only the front door of the school as the rear door will be unlocked for safety 
purposes only.

7. Any personal property brought into the premises will be at the sole risk of the user 
and the Red Brick Schoolhouse Commission shall not be liable for any loss nor damage 
to any such property for any reason. A waiver in this regard must be filled out prior to 
use of said building. This waiver will be provided in the informational packet obtained 
at the Township Office.

8. Each class is to be conducted in an orderly manner in full compliance with all 
applicable laws, regulations and rules and User is to assume full responsibility for 
conduct of all persons and for any damage to any part of the building during the school 
day. If anything is found to be defective or broken during the visit, please report same 
to the East China Township Office.

9. All papers, both inside and out, are to be cleaned up and deposited in the container 
provided and desks are to be emptied at the end of the school day. A broom is available 
for sweeping the floor and cloths are in the school to clean the slates and chalk boards.

10. A list of students in attendance should be submitted to the volunteer who is present 
that day and a Certificate of Attendance will be presented to each student at the end of 
the school day.

11. All motorized vehicles are to unload and park in the parking lot only -also use 
parking lot when loading.


WAIVER OF LIABILITY

Neither the RED BRICK SCHOOLHOUSE COMMISSION nor the CHARTER TOWNSHIP OF EAST CHINA 
shall be held liable for any damage to any personal property brought into the Red Brick 
Schoolhouse by any individual nor for loss of such personal property, nor for any injury
resulting from use of the Red Brick Schoolhouse nor its premises.
